Specific Need

The DCFD#2 Firefighters are looking to add a battery powered Combination Extrication Tool to our Vehicle Extrication Equipment toolbox.

While we were looking to add a battery powered hydraulic RAM to our Vehicle Extrication Equipment toolbox, we determined that the singular operation (push in a linear direction) a RAM provides in vehicle extrications would be better filled with a Combination Extrication Tool. Even though the push that the RAM provides is very beneficial, we believe the Combination Extrication Tool would be a greater asset to ourselves and our patients. With the Combination Extrication Tool, it gives us the ability to push and/or pull in the same linear fashion as a RAM. However, if we don’t need the RAM capabilities at the time, we have an additional cutter/spreader unit we can in conjunction with our cutter and spreader, especially if we need to work on multiple areas of the vehicle or even on completely different vehicles if more than one is involved.  We can also add accessories to give us even better Combination Extrication Tool capabilities.

We want to thank you the public for your very generous donations over the last few years, and the DCCF board for finding participants that provide matching funds. Through this combination, we were able to purchase the battery powered cutters and spreaders we were raising funds for. These tools can and are life saving pieces of equipment in emergency situations.

We have stations in Highland and White Cloud. We have members from all over our coverage area ranging from the NE stateline south to Severance, then from the Brown County line to K7 on the east.
