Highland Community Action Team

Specific Need

The Highland Community Action Team (HCAT) goals are to make improvements and help to maintain the City’s three parks along with providing activities for the whole community. In the past, with the help of the City of Highland, we refurbished our old horseshoe arena into a usable space for cornhole and other group activities. We were also able to purchase two portable pickle ball nets and add two pickle ball courts to the basketball court at Minier Park. We have also added two adult swings in Degginger Park along with a children’s garden and native plant garden. This past spring we added flowering hanging baskets along Main Street. We currently sponsor or co-sponsor the annual Memorial Day service, Breakfast with Santa and Snowflake Festival. This past year we added a children’s decorated bicycle parade and organized and co-sponsored the first annual Highland Hot Spot community bonfire and children’s activities. We are looking to add more community activities throughout the year. Another goal of HCAT is to add light posts along the walkway through Degginger Park.

Mission

The volunteers of Highland PRIDE work to spearhead projects, sponsor activities, and hold events that foster a sense of pride in our local community.

Highland PRIDE seeks to promote our commitment to building and supporting community engagement. We believe that a single action can make a difference in the community and that collective action can greatly impact the world. Through advocacy and outreach activities, our group works to help maximize community and economic development for the greater good. We hope that others will recognize and embrace the benefits of community spirit.
